For this class assignment, I was given a script for a commercial about a fictional candy called Sugar Shockers. I was also given the audio for the children’s voices to incorporate throughout the mix. I recorded the main vocals myself. I also searched for, dowloaded, and edited all sound effects. I was responsible for editing all voices and sound effects together into an exactly 60-second-long commercial.

My goal was to create a commercial that was both humorous and informative.

For this class assignment, I was tasked with creating a 90-second-long story using nothing but un-repeated pieces of audio. No dialogue was allowed to move the story along. The audio was a mix of personally-recorded sound effects and some audio from the department’s CD libraries.

I was graded on a wide variety of metrics. These included: session structure, spatial balance, use of panning and plug-ins, balance of audio levels, selection and usage of music and sound effects.

I received a score of 150/150 for this assignment.

In this story, I wanted to convey a man who goes to sleep and dreams of nothing but pain, suffering, and torment. He then wakes up to go about his day, before receiving an urgent phone call and rushing to his car. In the pouring rain, he loses control of the car and gets into an accident. As this occurs, his life flashes before his eyes. He is reminded of many happy memories that actually mirror the negative experiences from the nightmare if you listen closely enough. Then, his car crashes, and he seemingly takes his final breath. As it ends, the possibility is implied that the whole experience was a single dream, as the final sound is that of an alarm clock blaring.

I thoroughly enjoyed expressing my creative storytelling abilities with this assignment.

For this class assignment, I was given a list of commercial scripts to choose from. I was instructed to study the script and identify the goal as well as the emotions and tone that the audience ought to take from the commercial. I was then responsible for recording the voice-over performance myself, and incorporating appropriate music. Then I edited all the audio together into an exactly 60-second-long commercial

My goal for this commercial was to persuade the audience to come to this fictional gym. I aimed to do so with an authoritative, motivating, and energetic tone.

I learned from this how to properly use my voice inflections to convey certain emotions, as well as how to speak with proper timing for projects that require a precise length.

For this class assignment, I was instructed to create a 45-60 second radio news story. I chose the focus of my story to be the Krispy Christmas event at Resound Radio. I conducted an interview where I recorded the audio, and I then performed the voiceover audio myself. I then spliced the audio into segments that would go together to convey the necessary information to inform listeners about the event.

This audio contains samples from an audio book voiceover class assignment I completed.

I chose to read from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Along with reading through the story, I voiced the characters of Gollum, Frodo Baggins, and Samwise Gamgee.

This gave me the opportunity to experiment with voice acting, which I greatly enjoyed. I learned how to add depth to dialogue through making deliberate choices of how to deliver it.

I personally recorded all voice audio, and dowloaded sound effects to incorporate as transitions between snippets.
